Our Projects
Ethos
Every space we create and every line we draw is rooted in a deep-set philosophy. Our ethos, distilled into three core principles, guide our decision making and design making processes; and ultimately shape the buildings that rise from them.
-
We value simplicity, quality and purpose over excess, and believe that a reduced footprint doesn’t mean reduced functionality or liveability. In every one of our designs, each detail has a reason for being there, allowing us to shape spaces that feel balanced, purposeful and absolutely you. This approach also helps us reduce waste in materials, energy and space.
-
We believe that a desire to connect with the natural world is embedded in our psyche. So, we create designs that respond to landscape and climate, as well as the way you live. Orientation, light and airflow are considered from the very beginning, shaping spaces that are comfortable year-round and grounded in their surroundings.
-
There’s nothing mystical about good design. It emerges as we develop a deep understanding of how buildings perform, how they are constructed and how people live in them, and then consistently applying the right principles in response to that understanding.
This is how we approach every project. Our team is both detail oriented and technically oriented. From conceptual design to construction detailing, we think through how each element will perform, how it will be built and how it might age over time.
By asking the right questions early, we can create a home for you that not only functions well and looks beautiful, but continues to perform and endure into the future.
Ready to get started?
Every project is different, and so are the services required. Our process is tailored to suit your experience and the level of support you need – from early design and site queries through to construction oversight.
-
We don’t begin by drawing. We begin by listening and asking questions. Long before we pick up a pen to start designing, we take the time to understand you, your family and how you want to live.
What do you truly need? What would be nice to have? Why do certain spaces or ideas matter, and how can we make these work the best for you?
This process helps us to narrow down what you’re really looking for in your home – not just a particular aesthetic. Do you want a home that feels set into the landscape, spaces that encourage gathering or rooms that have the flexibility to adapt to the needs of a growing family?
We ask the right questions early to ensure we understand the goals of your brief so we can come up with ideas that you may not have even considered, making your home perfect for your needs – now, and into the future.
-
How you plan to use your home shapes how it should perform, and that shapes how we design it. We believe in spaces that work hard without feeling busy – rooms that adapt, storage that is discrete but ample and layouts that accommodate the daily rituals of your life with the opportunity to grow or change in the future.
We’ll work together to develop your brief, which may simply outline the rooms that you require or it might be a list of the activities that you enjoy such as reading a book in a sunny window. Only once the brief is clear, do we begin to sketch out potential layouts or configurations for you to consider.
Once we begin developing a response to the project brief, every decision is made with purpose. We carefully weave together performance, comfort, functionality and aesthetics at every step, from the orientation of the home to the way the materials come together on site.
Every decision we make serves one purpose – to build you a home that supports the way you want to live your life.
-
Bringing a home to life involves more than just good design and a great builder. It generally requires some form of planning approval. These can range from being very straightforward to a complicated mix of demonstrating compliance, coordinating consultant input and overcoming objections or chasing moving approval targets.
Whether your project falls under Complying Development or requires a Development Application, we can help navigate the pathway to an approval to avoid unnecessary delays. There may be other forms of approval that are also required before construction is allowed to begin, such as a construction certificate, or approvals from other government departments.
We can help guide you through each of these, and prepare and coordinate the documentation needed to move forward with confidence. We also have the experience to know when we’re in a strong position to push boundaries. We’re familiar with the processes, know what to expect and how to deal with the unexpected.
Our experience working with councils across the Sydney region – including Ku-ring-gai, Northern Beaches and Sutherland Shire – as well as with bushfire and heritage consultants, means we can anticipate challenges before they become obstacles.
-
The original design intent means very little if it isn’t carried through to the finished product. Many clients choose to have us remain closely involved throughout the build. Our value in this role is to make sure the quality envisioned in design is carried through to completion.
If unexpected conditions arise, we can provide on-the-go changes and improvements to minimise cost and disruption, and maintain the integrity of your design where required.
We hold ourselves and the entire building team to the most stringent of standards during all inspections, and act as fierce advocates for you every step of the way. Our goal is to make sure that all the details are resolved properly before sign-off and handover, resulting in a home that reflects the care and quality invested from the first conversation.
The first step is to have a conversation. And we’re here for that, whenever you’re ready.
